OPTIMA GROUP: Setting an example in environment protection

An important step in making the production of filling and packaging machines as ecologically friendly as possible: Optima Group completely changes over to power from renewable resources at both sites in Schwaebisch Hall. In the beginning of December, Hans Bühler (managing director) signed a contract with the municipal utility company of Schwaebisch Hall that guarantees direct power supply from a hydropower plant. Optima Group in Schwaebisch Hall with its approximately 950 employees has a consumption of about 2.7 million kilowatt hours, which can be compared to the consumption of 600 four-person households.

Systematic approach to ecological responsibility

To take control of all relevant environmental issues, the company implemented an eco-management system for six of its subsidiaries in 2007. Managing director Viktor Schnyder answers questions on the new co-operation:

O-com: Mr Schnyder, how did the co-operation between the two companies materialize? Schnyder: Three years ago, Lugaia started developing the SteriCon® method and presented it to its customers. At one such occasion, I met Matthias Poslovski from Optima Group Pharma. He and Mr. Jürgen Rothbauer (business manager) soon developed the idea of a partnership and quickly recognized its opportunities for both companies. Then we took some time to get to know each other. They wanted to know how far we were. And to us, a large partner was interesting, one with capacities to market products on a global scale.

OPTIMA GROUP pharma at Achema

Line competence, freeze-drying and disposables. Turn-key line competence is one of the most impressive features of the vial line which was shown at Achema. It comprises both Inova and Klee components: Line functions include cleaning, sterilizing, filling, freeze drying and closing – with process controls (Please refer to page 4 - 7 for a detailed description). Klee was at the fair with a pilot freeze dryer for lyophilized bio pharmaceuticals, operable under isolator even when manually loaded. The presented Kugler Linoline offers maximum flexibility for its diversified format and closure applications, particularly when used for clinical diagnostic applications. The Stericon® system by Lugaia for sterile transfers of APIs and materials to an isolator protected zone is a safe and extremely inexpensive solution.
