Biotechnology trends. In specific cases, the filling and packaging processes for these highly active, sometimes very expensive biopharmaceuticals require modified technologies. New technologies. Disposable technologies still hold enormous potential. In this respect, Optima Group Pharma’s bet is on investing in developments for filling systems in-house. The partnership with Switzerland-based Lugaia STS was sealed with the acquisition of a company interest this year. Lugaia designed a certified and patented disposable process that supports sterile transfers into and out of isolator-protected zones. The approach uses pre-sterilized foils and specific welding technologies which produce peel-able compounds. [...]
