Cartoners for packaging cosmetics - Why not a slanted variant?
PPS cartoners are just as unique as the cosmetic products they package into folding boxes. They are aligned to the requirements of the cosmetics sector. The new PPS cartoner takes flexibility to a next level, processing the most diversified shapes and types of folding boxes and containers and performing format changeovers within record time.

A few notes on the machine’s design: The entire transport unit of the CMF cartoner can be pivoted. This allows the user to optionally choose between horizontal or vertical feeding of the prepared folding boxes, and the transportation of the folding boxes at an inclination angle of 30 degrees is possible. This tilted structure is particularly well suited when containers have to be placed into special-shape boxes, or when other ‘difficult’ or multi-part components are processed: The product is stable inside the folding box, which facilitates stacking. More complex shapes reliably remain in correct position.
Folding boxes – also in irregular shapes or angles – are precisely what the CMF cartoner is built for. A further innovative element of the device is its processing function for special folding boxes with slanted tug-in closures at the bottom. The function is operated by a special closing system at the bottom.
The line can process folding boxes with and without an interior box. The CMF cartoner is equipped with two pick & place systems that can be adapted to the relevant application. The arrangement allows processing folding boxes with and without interior box. If interior boxes are packaged, the first pick & place unit places the bottles into the interior boxes and the second unit inserts the filled interior box into the folding box. If no interior boxes are used, the first station remains inactive and the second station brings the product directly into the folding box.
Swift procedures for format changeover Because customers, in general, need frequent format changeover, the CMF cartoner features a total of 24 fully automatic adjustable axes that react and move into the required position when the operator pushes a button at the HMI. In addition, another 17 dynamic servo drive axes can be set to format-specific process speed, distances, and motion curves.
Fast changeover is further supported by changeover tools with pneumatic locks. The result: Two operators can perform a format changeover within five minutes – end to end. Machine operation is further enhanced by two ergonomic and well accessible magazines for folding and/or interior boxes that offer greater capacity. Mirror coatings within the line and the large all-glass doors allow convenient process observation.
For rapid operation start-up and small machine footprint, the control cabinet has been integrated into the machine frame. Maximum output of the CMF cartoner is 200 products per minute, depending on the unit’s individual configuration. The machine can process formats of max. 120 × 120 × 200 mm.
